My son recently received a gift in the form of pixel-like blocks that he could assemble to form any manner of pixel art. He started with the examples that came with the package and then branched into making his own creations in the form of ghosts, fish, and other hilarious ideas he comes up with.
Qixels are, admittedly, fun to work with. Unfortunately, they are also largely expensive on a per-Qixel basis and the packages are somewhat limited in what you can create outside of the examples. So, a quick search on Amazon and I came across perler beads.
These things look fantastic! I'm an 80s and 90s video game nerd and I'm already excited to start creating real-life renditions of my favourite video game characters and objects. I quickly ordered up this handy 22,000 bead jar, along with some extra black beads to facilitate my need to ensure my creations have that authentic, video game look. It may seem silly to some, but our family can't wait to dive into this.
I know there are thousands of you out there who have been working with these beads for many years. Feel free to hit up the comments and let us know what you've created!
