portfolio
It is designGel's responsibility to represent its clients in the best light
possible so we are taking the time to make sure our current portfolio
of sites is truly ready to show to the rest of the world before we post
updates here.
Please check back often as this page will begin to fill up quickly!
BQMSL.ca
Client: Bay of Quinte Men's Soccer League
Rebuilt from the ground up since the initial re-design in 2009, BQMSL is running on
designGel's latest platform, dgSports.
dgSports allows sports leagues to fully manage everything about their league, teams, players,
game schedules and scoring. BQMSL is able to manage nearly every askpect of their league, with
new features being introduced on a regular basis.
Another special feature of this site is the Flash-based title area created by
designGel. This title image utlizes a physics-simulation module to bounce
the soccer balls all over the title area, giving the site a unique and fresh
appeal to its viewers. iPhone OS visitors aren't left out, however! A static graphic is in place
for visitors who don't have Flash installed in their web browser.

18m.co.il
Client: 18 Magazine
Expanding upon our existing Content Management System, designGel poured further development into this area to support
the carefully crafted content that 18 Magazine offers up each month on its Israel-based web-zine. The site acts as a
complimentary piece to the print-version of 18 Magazine and is a true testament to designGel's commitment to excellence in
web development.

AcornKitchens.com
Client: Acorn Kitchens
Developed by Ryan Covert while working for Punch Integrated Communications Inc.
The entire site engine, including the Content Management System (CMS) that drives the
product pages, textual content and protected areas of the site, was developed by designGel.
This site is a great example of Ryan's ability to work with existing design files created
by the client to create a fantastic user interface experience.

RalstonMetal.com
Client: Ralston Metal
Developed by Ryan Covert while working for Punch Integrated Communications Inc.
Ralston Metal required a CMS that could easily update the hundreds (maybe thousands!) of products
available in their online catalogue while still retaining a unique and consistent UI experience.
A lot of time went into perfecting the presentation of this site to keep all important information
front and center and compatible across all client browsers.
Technologies used: ASP.NET 3.5, MS SQL Server 2005, CSS
Couponix.ca
Client: Cliche Design
Although the client has, sadly, not had a chance to get the actual content
running on this site, Couponix.ca started with a simple concept and remained a
very simple, yet effective site for making Canadian coupons available to
internet visitors.
The site was developed in PHP and utilizes a custom CMS that supports both MySQL
and MS SQL databases. The client provided an initial design file to
communicate the look and feel of the site and designGel fleshed it out to what
you see now.
A mobile version of the site was also created, and can be accessed through any
mobile device at http://couponix.ca/mobile/.
The mobile site showcases designGel's ability to work with any platform to make
data clean, available and timely.

SabourinArt.com
Client: Sabourin Art / Your Mind's Eye
A digital artist on a whole new level, Alex Sabourin creates amazing artwork that he paints on commission for anyone interested in
his unique and beautiful vision. The Sabourin Art site (along with its sister-company, "Your Mind's Eye" that Alex sells his
paintings through) was conceptualized by Alex and transformed into a web friendly version by designGel.
Once again, designGel created a custom CMS to aid in the management of all content on this site, making
it extremely easy for Alex to update his artwork gallery and all textual content found on the site.
New, "WEB 2.0" features are planned for this site in the near future, including twitter feeds, Facebook
connections and RSS updates.
Technologies used: ASP.NET 3.5, MS Access DB, CSS
Greentec.com
Client: Greentec
Greentec is your one-stop shop for all things related to printer ink and technology disposal. designGel was commissioned
to revamp the existing Greentec site using a new look and feel while at the same time retaining the existing functionality
of the site.
This site serves as a testament to the development abilities of designGel. Developed from the ground up, TWICE (yes, that's 2 times!),
designGel completed a revamp of this site fully
built with ASP 3.0 (that's old-school Visual Basic for those still familiar with it) only to have the client request
that the site be rebuilt in ASP.NET days before its launch. The launch date was moved
back slightly and designGel recreated the entire site, from scratch, in ASP.NET, keeping the client happy!

AngAndRyan.com
Client: Ryan Covert
Brides, consider this your first warning! If you visit this site you will want one for your own wedding!
This site was developed for Angela & Ryan to be both an informative piece to compliment their special occasion as well
as an elegant showcase of designGel's UI skills.
The site utilizes a custom CMS to display all page content, and handles everything from suggestions for music at the reception to handling the online reply cards. Yes, you read that correctly: this site is setup for ONLINE REPLY CARDS! (We can hear the brides getting even more excited, now!)
Feel free to contact us for details on how you can get your very own wedding site on your own URL or an existing site.

ICR. (
Links made available upon request due to access restrictions.)
Client: Office Max, HBC, The Home Depot
Developed by Ryan Covert while working for Punch Integrated Communications Inc.
Ryan Covert spent the better part of 2 years developing a Learning Management System
built on Java and SCORM technologies that is currently in use by the four clients listed above.
Based on his experience with past LMS development in ASP.NET and Perl CGI, Ryan built these systems
to be robust, responsive and feature-packed. Not only does ICR present a very simple and intuitive
approach to the front-end portion of an LMS system, it also contains a very manageable administrator
interface that allows site admins to modify literally thousands of settings across the entire system
that give way to making changes to simple things (layout and design skins used) to the previously-thought-impossible (historical backups of reports that remain accurate even after stores or users of the site have been removed).

The Home Depot "Race for Safety" (
Link available upon request.)
Client: The Home Depot
Developed by Ryan Covert while working for Punch Integrated Communications Inc.
The "Race for Safety" site was built by Ryan Covert from the ground up as a simple way for THD associates to record various bits of important information that those in the Loss Prevention portion of the company could access quickly and efficiently through ongoing reports and analysis (all built into the site).
The site runs on a custom CMS that allows the administrators to get a close look at the daily data posts by the associates and provides THD with the ability to communicate their data findings back to their teams in a timely manner.
